This award goes to Specialist Freeman of the United States Army. for having our back in times of crisis. i know that you were homosexual since your voice could not hide that fact, but you had a bronze star since the Vietnam War and came back to the U.S. Army as a Specialist during my Basic Training at Ft Knox. We knew you were Gay. We accepted you before we knew you had a Bronze Star for going out of your way to save another soldier. No other man in our Platoon talked behind your back. At that time, being gay and serving in the U.S. Army was not prohibited as it is today. but I am sure that there is a recruiter who had thought someone like you would be a great soldier and pulled some strings to let this world know that we are a new, free Army with military discipline that serves it people.
